This guidance has been prepared for maintained schools, all of which, regardless of status, must comply with the statutory School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document. Academies must also follow the guidance in respect of any teachers transferrred to them with protected salaries and conditions of employment.

This guidance has been prepared on the assumption that schools have adopted the Birmingham Single Status arrangements. Schools which have not adopted those arrangements should ensure that they are aware of the differences in the salaries and conditions of employment of their support staff when compared with Single Status.
